Books of the month
Our knowledgeable staff recommend their favourite current reads

Anna's choice
The Ministry of Time
My book of the month is Ministry of Time by Kaliane Bradley. It is charming, funny, intelligent and a compelling read. Combining sci-fi , romance and history into an action packed story... I absolutely loved it!

Michael's choice
No Direction Home
Ahead of Bob's return to these shores, Opportunity to immerse yourself in this timely re-issued biography. Particularly good on the early Greenwich Village years.

Dora's choice
Moscow X
The thriller of the year. Ex CIA author lends a whiff of authenticity to this undercover tale of Oligarchs/Corruption. What's not to like.

Cally's choice
House of Doors
Merging fact and Fiction, House of Doors tells the story of Somerset Maugham's visit to Malaysia to stay with an old friend. A wonderfully immersive and atmospheric read.

Tania's choice
Fallow Hall
Anna and Cally have already chosen two of the best books that I've read recently, and although I could have picked Tell Me More by Elizabeth Strout, it's already been very well publicised. So instead I have selected this very accomplished first novel. A murder story, gentle romance - but more than that.

Lennie's choice
Friend Sigrid Nunez
Award winning book, now a film with Naomi Watts. A women's friend dies unexpectedly and she inherits his dog. I'm hoping that my owners will read this to me.
